Our lab investigates infants' and young children's understanding of number, time, and space, as well as their understanding of the physical world (e.g., object physics, nature of matter) and social world (e.g., expectations about relations ships and social partners). We seek to find out what babies know about the world around them and how this knowledge grows with development.
Duties primarily include data collection (presenting puppet shows to young infants, playing games with preschoolers) as well as photocopying, data management, and video coding. Commitments of 6-9 hours per week are required and students must work the entire semester (or summer session).
You can earn class credit (PSYC 2950/4950) for your participation and, more importantly, gain valuable research experience, which can help you get into graduate school!
If you are interested in learning more about working in the lab, please contact the lab director, Dr. Kristy vanMarle (vanmarlek@missouri.edu), or come by my office in McAlester Hall (Rm 218).
We begin interviewing students for the spring semester in late fall, in late spring for the summer session, and in late summer for the fall semester. If you're interested in applying to work in the lab, please email the lab director, Dr. Kristy vanMarle vanmarlek@missouri.edu
